The town church "Sankt Viti" was consecrated in 1513 and in 2013 celebrated its 500th anniversary.
Construction of the current church began during the reign of Merseburg Bishop Thilo von Trotha (1443-1514). He developed a brisk construction activity in the area of his places of activity, including in Lützen. Since the financial means were already tight at that time, the bishop had letters of indulgence sold to finance the building of the church in Lützen. This happened at the Naumburg and Leipzig fair, on the streets, in the surrounding villages and towns.

Vandring
The church was consecrated in 1513. The tower was not finished until 1531. In 1778, lightning struck and as a result of the fire, the tower was shortened by 10 m during the reconstruction.
