In the Märkisches Museum, the Stadtmuseum Berlin presents exhibitions and objects on the history, culture and everyday life of the city. The highly visible building in the Köllnischer Park was built between 1899 and 1908 as a state-of-the-art museum. Its historicizing architecture uniquely illustrates regional architectural styles from different eras. At the same time, it was the first building in the world designed specifically as a city museum and one of the first re-opened Berlin museums after the Second World War.
