The old manor house, affectionately called "Glinder Schloss" by the old Glinde residents, is located in the center of town, amidst a partially preserved park, but also surrounded by high-rise buildings from the 1970s.
The date and year of its construction have so far remained a mystery to historians.
It was built around 1880, after the Hamburg patrician and lawyer Dr. Edward Bartels Banks purchased the lands of the Glinde estate at auction in October 1879.

The old manor house, affectionately known by Alt-Glinders as the “Glinder Castle”, is located in the middle of a partially preserved park, but also framed by the high-rise buildings from the 1970s, in the center of the city. The day and year of its construction have so far remained hidden from historical researchers.
