At Abelines Gaard, Hvide Sande you have the opportunity to experience what life was like on a dune farm on the North Sea coast in West Jutland. In the “Faces of the Past” exhibition, you can choose what to see when Abeline and Esepigen (a woman who repaired men’s fishing nets and baited them) talk about their lives.

For the youngest of the family and the young at heart, there are many fun games from earlier times for indoors and outdoors. Go on stilts, play wall ball and finger billiards. If you go on our entertaining treasure hunt, you can immerse yourself in the everyday life of the children 100 years ago.

Abelines Gaard also has a lifeguard station which hosts events throughout the year. Here you can, among other things. experience how a rescue operation went in the old days.

There is also a cozy café. There is also a small museum shop in the courtyard that sells souvenirs and ice cream.

Abelines Gaard is a square farm in Hivde Sande, built between 1854 and 1871 of the
Strandvogt Christen Christensen was built in typical western Jutland style. In 1974, the farm was bought by an independent foundation and converted into a museum of local history. The well-preserved farm is still as today as Christensens time. In 1996, Abelines Gaard received the Europa Nostra Award in recognition of the preservation of the farm. The courtyard is part of the Ringkobing Ski Museum.

In the listed courtyard of the beach guard, time seems to have stopped. Let yourself be 100 years back in time when Abeline lived here. Go on stilts or just say hello to the chickens.

Currently closed, reopened from april 2020.
