The Great Sand Hills span a 1,900-square-kilometre expanse of rolling dunes, prairie sand-reed, spear grass, and rare dune wildflowers. It’s one of the largest active dune fields in Canada, and the dunes rise 5–15 metres, with some reaching up to 25 metres high. Keep an eye out for pronghorn antelope, mule deer, foxes, badgers, ferruginous hawks, and sharp-tailed grouse and Ord’s kangaroo rat.
