This junction marks where the Ozark Highlands Trail intersects with the loop connecting White Rock Mountain and Shores Lake. From here, it’s about 6 miles downhill to Shores Lake, and east, just 200 feet ahead, there is a flat, shaded campsite near the usually dry Salt Fork Creek crossing. Whether you're heading east toward Highway 23 or west toward White Rock, this spot is a key trail intersection for both loop hikers and long-distance trekkers on the OHT.
