The reserve was created from part of a former fish farm. In the past, there were fish ponds next to the centrally located pond-reserve. Today, they are neglected, they have lost water regulation, because the locks and other drainage devices have been devastated. Today, even the old pumping station buildings no longer exist.
The reserve is located right next to the Narew riverbed. On its southern edge, there is a centuries-old English oak with a chapel on its trunk, which has the status of a natural monument, and an old brick fishing house stands next to it.
