The construction of the collegiate church was started in the year of foundation 939 and completed in 960; She was consecrated to John the Baptist and Mary. Built in the 15th century, the tower collapsed in 1811 and was replaced in 1869 by a neo-Gothic successor.

The collegiate church of Schildesche is very impressive from the outside, but can only rarely be visited. Viewing is only possible on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. In the winter months not even the service takes place in the church itself. The church is surrounded by a beautiful church ring with a few beautiful houses.
