Lemeshki is an ancient village, known from chronicles since the 17th century. The very first wooden church here was built in 1692 by the landowner S.A. Feofilatyev. In 1726, he also moved another wooden church, built earlier, from the nearby village of Oslavskoye. Both buildings gradually fell into disrepair, and in 1808, a stone Ascension Church was built in their place. In 1857, a stone bell tower was added to it.
