JIM FOWLER
"The biggest challenge is how to affect public attitudes and make people care." -Jim Fowler
Jim Fowler, renowned naturalist and host of the famed television series Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, was instrumental in the design and creation of the Animal Forest at Charles Towne Landing in 1970. His design included spacious habitats, hidden fencing and special walkways. The overall effect gave visitors the sense that they were viewing the animals in their natural setting, thus immersing them in the "wild". Mr. Fowler later returned to Charles Towne Landing in 2017 for the grand re-opening of the Elk habitat as well as the ribbon cutting ceremony on the Animal Forest's very first Bald Eagle exhibit.
