The Hoppbruch nature reserve is located in the area of the independent city of Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The nature reserve is located in the Mönchengladbach district of Giesenkirchen-Nord, east of the core city of Mönchengladbach and south of the core city of Korschenbroich. It stretches between Eiger (district of Giesenkirchen) in the southwest and the Korschenbroich district of Steinhausen in the southeast along the northwest-flowing Trietbach, which also flows through the area. The L 31 state road runs to the west and north of the area, the

L 382 to the east and the B 230 to the south. The 137-hectare Volksgarten-Bungtwald-Elschenbruch nature reserve extends to the northwest.

The approximately 126.8-hectare area was declared a nature reserve in 1990 under the key number MG-014. Protection goals are

• Preservation and ecological optimization of a large deciduous forest area in the Niers lowlands as part of a regionally important protected area system along the Niers

• Preservation and ecological optimization of moist floodplain forest and oak-hornbeam forest

• Preservation and restoration of reed beds
