The Meissen Carillon in Schwarzenberg is a charming gem in the old town that captivates visitors with its unique sound and history.
### 🎶 What is the Meissen Carillon?
The carillon consists of 37 porcelain bells from the famous Meissen Porcelain Manufactory and is located in a former transformer house next to a historic fountain in the old town of Schwarzenberg. After renovations in 1993 and 1994, the tower was fitted with the bells that hang in the tower cupola.
### 🕰️ Performance Times and Winter Break
The carillon rings daily at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. During this time, the tower doors open, allowing visitors to see and hear the bells. The winter break lasts from January 7 to March 20. ### 🛠️ Repair and Recommissioning
Since November 5, 2020, the carillon has been out of service due to technical problems. In 2023, the 37 porcelain bells were reinstalled, and new strikes and a new control system were installed. The repairs were carried out by the Leipzig-based company Zachariä.
