If you look closely you will see many old advertisements (frescoes) from the past on the walls of buildings. Some have been restored, others have not.

Teekens aan de Wand has been taking stock since 1998, restoring and renewing historic wall advertisements. There were around 30 advertisements on the facade of the building at Lindenlaan 31, and there were also various advertisements on the Wilhelminatoren and on various other buildings in our already touristy Valkenburg between 1895 and around 1930.
Jo Bertholet, secretary of the Teekens aan de Wand foundation, says that from Friday 25 July these advertisements will also be stored digitally via the website teekensaandewand.nl in the Koninklijke Bibliotheek in The Hague.
