Today too the path was unmown, my legs suffered because of all the nettles on the narrow path... halfway I unfortunately had to turn around because I could not go any further in a bend of the Uffelsebeek where it was completely under water and where I unfortunately could not get through the undergrowth... so I walked back about 100 meters and along a field with beets to a farm...

The Uffelse (Uffelsche) Beek originates from the Kempens Plateau in Belgium, where it is known as Abeek, Lossing or Emissaire. It flows into Dutch Limburg at border post 144. This village is called Haler, in the past people often also called it Haler-Uffelse. This stream flows through agricultural land, small forest plots and through the built-up area of Hunsel and Grathem. The Uffelse Beek was canalised to a considerable extent in the 1960s. At the beginning of the 21st century the stream was (largely) restored to its former glory, as a result of which many species of flora and fauna are gradually reappearing. The Hunselse Langven/Kleine Renne flows into the stream near Hunsel. The Vereniging Natuurmonumenten owns a 4 ha site in the valley of the Uffelse Beek near Hunsel. Here you can find the wood rush. The little owl breeds here and butterflies such as the orange tip and the oak page can be found here.
