Some info: You have to book if you want to sleep in the Hutt (NZ$25) and the route passes through land protected by the Mahori culture, so there is a right of way of (NZ$40) to pay as well. But it really is a hidden haven of peace. Note that during my visit on 08/22/2024, a small water filtration fountain was installed at the hutt. It is therefore no longer necessary to bring 6L of water per person for the round trip. Just plan on 3L of container and refill when you arrive at the Hutt. Bonus, take the opportunity to go to the foot of the water to say hello to the Seals!
