On July 13, 1252, Conrad Marschall von Schenkenberg was the first person mentioned in a document by the Count of Brehna. On the site where the manor stands today, a wooden castle was built 500 years ago and protected by a moat. Later, the castle was constructed of stone.
The building was built on oak piles in a marshy area.
The Schenkenberg manor consists of a very large, open estate with a central manor house, which dates back to a moated castle with a partially preserved moat.
