      The Taunus Club was founded in 1868 in the previous building, which was destroyed during the Second World War. The chairman was the already mentioned Frankfurter August Ravenstein, who had significantly awakened the Frankfurt population's desire to wander.
      The home, which originally had 20 overnight accommodations on the ground floor of the observation tower, is closed until further notice.
      The 40 meter high tower has a glazed viewing platform; its construction was financed with donations between 1901 and 1902. In 1943 it was rammed by an airplane and partially destroyed. The reconstruction took place in 1949. The popularity of the tower on the highest mountain in the Taunus can be seen from the rapid reconstruction. When the weather is good, the all-round view extends to the North Palatinate Mountains, Palatinate Forest, Vosges, Hunsrück, Eifel, Westerwald, Vogelsberg, Rhön, Spessart and Odenwald.

                    The observation tower on the Großer Feldberg is approximately 40 meters high and features a fully glass-enclosed viewing platform, reached via an enclosed staircase with approximately 100 steps. From the platform, at over 900 meters above sea level, you can enjoy a stunning view of the Main Valley, the High Taunus Mountains, and the Usingen region.
