The Silzsee between Hockenheim and Speyer is a former, elongated gravel pit in the Rheinauen. The lake is surrounded by trees. Especially at the northwest end there are shallow water zones. The other banks seem to slope more evenly. With the westerly wind, which is mostly common in Germany, the east bank should be suitable for a hide when warm surface water flows in onshore and cool deep water is displaced. If there are trees in the water, these are clear starting points in the otherwise structurally poor lake.

At the lake, two fishing clubs form a lease community that also manages other bodies of water. Boat fishing is limited. Guest tickets are issued. Those who fish in the company of a club member even receive a discount. If you are interested, you should contact the Altlußheimer Verein directly.

A lap around this lake is particularly recommended on hot days! You can take a break at the fishing spots - as long as they are not occupied by anglers.
Without the approval of the association you shouldn't be tempted to go wild fishing here!

Unfortunately, cattle block access to Lake Silz. The lake is probably a remnant of the Old Rhine, but could also be dredged.
The cattle also make something, but I would prefer the lake access!
