Fishing nets used to be made of natural materials like cotton, soaked in wood tar to protect them from rot. They were pulled onto the ramp with the winch, excess tar could run back into the pot. The device, restored in 2012, was probably built at the beginning of the 20th century and was in use until the late 1960s.
