The Museu de Arte do Rio de Janeiro or MAR, located in Praça Mauá , was inaugurated in early March 2013 and quickly became one of the biggest cultural attractions in the city for its exhibitions and architecture.
The museum is a complex consisting of 2 buildings, connected by a square, floating walkways and a wave-shaped roof that covers one of the buildings and part of the other.
As a whole, the complex covers some 15,000 square meters and has several exhibition spaces spread over the four floors of the former mansion.
A museum that you should definitely visit if you want to see something different than the classic sights in the city. From the roof terrace you have a beautiful view of part of the city.
