If you stand at Grenzstein 147, you have arrived at the southernmost point in Germany and look over to Austria. Here, at 1,900 meters, there is also the border triangle between Bavaria, Tyrol and Vorarlberg. The climb to the boundary stone is exhausting and challenging at the end.

The southernmost point in Germany at the beautiful border stone 147, where Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Bavaria meet. It is 875 km as the crow flies to the northernmost point at the elbow in List. And if you feel like it, you can also travel to the easternmost (Görlitz) and westernmost (Selfkant) and get a stamped pass from the Zipfelbund. If all this is too 2-dimensional for you, you can also add the highest point (Zugspitze is just around the corner) and lowest point in the Wilstermarsch. All that's really missing is a proper center point, but here the scholars argue about exactly where this is. Somewhere in Thuringia or Hesse. In any case, have fun visiting the German extreme places.

@Lukasz: We were there even when it was pouring rain from the Mindelheimer Hütte and were glad that we found a dry resting place in the Zollhütte, east of the border point. There we dried ourselves off before we went on to the Rappenseehütte :)

Border Stone 147 is the southernmost point in Germany and also the border triangle between Bavaria, Tyrol, and Vorarlberg at 1,883 m.

The border stone is now well signposted, which wasn't the case on my first trip here over 10 years ago.

Up here, you can take a wonderful break and enjoy magnificent views.
