Mariënborn (also called Mariëndaal) is a former Augustinian monastery. It was the second oldest monastery in Arnhem and was founded in 1392.

In 1580 it was closed and the buildings were demolished. A number of estates arose from the monastery: Warnsborn in 1640, Boschveld in 1650, Lichtenbeek in 1651, Mariëndaal in 1735 and Den Brink in the 18th century.
These estates together are now called 'Mariënborn'.

Landgoed Groot Warnsborn was first mentioned in the 15th century. It then belonged to the monastery of Mariëndaal. Around 1650, parts of monastic grounds were sold to private individuals. This is how the first estates in this area were created, including Landgoed Groot Warnsborn. It develops into a stately country retreat with a chapel, coach house, park and orangery. In WWII, the mansion unfortunately went up in flames. It has been rebuilt and is now used as a hotel.
