Church of San Carlo and Annunciation of Maria, Garabiolo
The church of Garabiolo is little explored. It must have been in its current form before 1683.
In 1909 the parish priest of Campagnano (then parish center for Garabiolo) commissioned an intensive interior decoration campaign. The ornamental parts (frames, pilasters, etc.) were worked on by the less well-known painters Poncini from Ascona and Della Valle from nearby Cadero. The figural scenes were entrusted to Italo Cenni
(Milan, 1874 - Colmegna, 1956), son of the most famous Quinto (military and magazine illustrator), then vacationing in the towns. He painted frescoes: the "Power of Mary at the wedding at Cana, "Esther receives fullness of grace from the king" (Zanelli), a Saint Peter and a Saint James. They were not appreciated by Card. Ildefonso Schuster, Visit 1942: The Church "was recently frescoed, but the artist certainly did not intend to create a work of art".
