Our Waldheim
... is probably in the most beautiful spot in Kuchen. You can enjoy the great view and the delicious homemade cakes from our Waldeheim hosts on Sundays and the first Wednesday of the month. The Waldheim can be reached on foot or by car.
After a fire, our old clubhouse was completely destroyed and had to be rebuilt and now offers space for around 50 guests. A large tiled stove provides cozy warmth even in winter. In summer, our terrace invites you to linger.
Historical information about the Waldheim:
After a shelter with a small lounge was built on the leased property in 1926, which was inaugurated on June 13th on the square at Raabenloch, it was discovered 6 years later that the hut was too small. Incidentally, the Kuchen Naturheilverein was also interested in the site at the time, but failed because it was not on the water, so they went to the Fils (behind the Catholic kindergarten). Germania immediately took action and formed a building committee to build a shelter.
In 1931, the community offered to buy the site. At first they wanted a small area around the hut. Until singer Jakober made the request to buy everything, and that's what happened. 22 new boundary stones had to be set on a plot of 1.27 hectares at a price of 150 marks per acre. Recorded on Monday, August 31, 1931. Now the extension could begin, which was carried out by master carpenter Nusser. The cost was around 728 marks, which also represented new debt.
