This section of trail was burned in 2017 and is under recovery. The trail is open, but it has numerous downed trees that must be scrambled over. The trail is difficult to follow in areas and sections of the trail have somewhat hazardous trees to watch out for in windy conditions. You should feel comfortable climbing over large downed trees and ducking under others and navigating off trail. We missed a crucial turn and found ourselves having to navigate back to the trail; when in doubt, retrace your steps as there are large boulders in here that could leave you stuck.
