Saint Martin, to whom the church of Forchheim is dedicated, is probably one of the most popular saints of all, along with Saint Nicholas. St. Martin's Church in Forchheim is the largest and oldest church in the city. Originally a royal private church, the current building dates back to the late 12th century, but acquired its present appearance through renovations in the 14th century. The interior design and its three portals are particularly noteworthy. The 57-meter-high tower serves as a prominent landmark in the old town.
