A line, usually known as the Landgraben, runs through the entire western part of the Oberamt, marked by a rampart and a ditch. It runs through the districts of Münklingen, Hausen and Heimsheim, and until then was identical with the Württemberg-Baden state border established at the beginning of the 17th century, and therefore also with the Oberamt and district border (…). The general direction is SSW-NNE. Where the line is well preserved, it consists of a rampart, which is built up from the excavation of the trench with a pointed bottom, and a ditch facing west. Average dimensions in the best preserved places: total width of rampart and ditch 6 - 7 m, of rampart 3 m, of ditch 3 - 4 m, rampart height up to 2 m above and ditch depth up to 2 m below the base of the rampart. Where the line is the state border, it always runs within Württemberg territory. Here and there the wall has flattened considerably or disappeared completely and the ditch has been leveled, but both are still recognizable as a field path or somehow at ground level (…).
[The ditch] turns at the point where the state border (Württemberg - Baden), the district border (Calw - Leonberg) and the district border (Möttlingen - Münklingen) meet or collide, i.e. where it enters the Leonberg district and the Münklingen district, at an obtuse angle to the NE, a direction that it now maintains with one brief exception up to the Würm (…):[It] descends to the Münklingen - Neuhausen road, then becomes clearly recognizable as a dam high above the footpath that leads north of the Kuppelzen to the Jakobsbrunnen.
