Economic life used to rage in the Baybachtal. Numerous mills were in operation there. They drew their energy from the brook. Each of the communities involved had one or more farm mills in the valley. 32 mills stood from the source in Hausbay to the mouth in castles on the Moselle. After the Basselscheid farmer's mill, ten minutes later we arrive at the Peterchesmühle, once known as the Linkemühle and even earlier as the Werdingsmühle after its owners.
Around 1750, the Peter and Margarethe Werding family is mentioned in the parish register of Gondershausen. The last miller was Karl Link, who took a Moselle girl to wife in the lonely mill in the 1930s. This is worth mentioning because the relationship between the Moselle and the Hunsrück was not that good in the past. Even today you can occasionally hear from "seasoned Moselle residents" that they would rather put up with flooding three to four times a year than live even one day on the Hunsrück.
