Location and history: The Scillawald nature reserve, also known as the Oeffinger Scillawald, is located north of Stuttgrt-Hofen on the right-hand side of the Neckar. The forest area runs along the Neckar to the north and ends south of the Aldingen industrial park.
The Scillawald nature reserve lies close to the Stuttgart district near Hofen on the right-hand slope of the Neckar. It is reminiscent of a type of forest that used to be widespread on the shady slopes of the Neckar valley.
The Weidach Valley, which also belongs to the Scillawald area, also starts at the Fellbacher Landungsbrücke.
This so-called adhesive forest is home to characteristic spring bloomers such as scilla (blue star), hollow lark's spur, bush anemones and wild garlic on moist, nutrient-rich soil.
Not far from Hofen, the Scillawald is in bloom, as one of the first harbingers of spring, which nowhere in the Stuttgart area can be found in such abundance
The lily species Scillas (squill) bloom shortly after the snowdrops, at the beginning of spring, when the first rays of sunshine attract, but the days are still short.
The lily species squill (Latin scillas) are the namesake of the forest area
