The castle in Sassanfahrt is inextricably linked to the name of the Imperial Count Julius von Soden. In 1784 he bought the Sassanfahrt manor, which until then consisted of the estate and a few small farms. By building over 90 drip houses, he significantly increased the population. The castle building, which probably dates back to the 17th century, was remodeled and expanded in the 19th century under the Imperial Count's successors, the von Pflummern family. The simple castle building has been owned by the Hirschaid market for a few years. As part of the urban development program, it has been renovated with EU funds since 2011.
Today the castle is open to the public again, and the castle and garden are available for public events and private celebrations.
