Overall, the MOMA is worth seeing, as this painting by Matisse alone proves. - I was disappointed with the allocation and themes of the various exhibition rooms, however.
If you want to see and experience art in NYC, I think the Metropolitan is a better place to go.

There is an overwhelming amount and quality; it's truly awe-inspiring. Once you've explored the era of ancient art and culture, you should treat yourself to a break in the on-site restaurant; the prices are moderate, and the food is fresh and delicious.

Afterward, you'll eagerly head to the section of European and American paintings from the classical modern era. There, you'll marvel at works by van Gogh, Monet, Turner, Hopper, and even Warhol. I counted 18 works by Monet alone, including his Japanese Bridge.

I've visited several world-famous museums and was even more impressed by the Met than by the Uffizi in Florence and the Louvre in Paris; and this also applied to the perfect presentation.
