The “Försterei Bärenkopf” memorial stone is located directly on Eichenallee, near the Bärenkopf elevation. The Bärenkopf forest district existed for almost 130 years before it was dissolved in 1998 as part of one of the many reforms and reclassifications. This stone was erected here on the initiative of the former forester Albert Grote (Schönhagen). He found the right stone block in the "Salzsteingrund", a railing channel that runs down from Bärenkopf into the Ahletal. Holzrücker Dieter Schwerdtfeger from Sievershausen transported the heavy block with his vehicle to the intended location. The stone was inaugurated on June 2nd, 1999 in the presence of forester Albert Grote, forestry manager Dr. Manfred Förster and Chief Forest Inspector Volker Habermann. To celebrate the day there was homemade "Mettwurst on the thumb", dry bread, beer and schnapps; a typical Solling meal consumed in the forest.
