The small village of Rechtenstein is located directly on the Danube, between Riedlingen and Munderkingen, east of Zwiefalten and in the southwest is Obermarchtal. Rechtenstein is located on the Danube cycle path and offers some eye-catchers!
The former Rechtenstein Castle is located on the hill with a view of the Danube and the Danube valley. This hilltop castle ruin is located at an altitude of 550 meters (above sea level) and it takes some effort to overcome the difference in altitude, but it is undoubtedly worth it. Only the tower, i.e. the keep, remains of the former Stain Castle. You can visit this, but the area is partly privately owned.
Inside the tower, the only building in the Rechtenstein ruins that can be visited, you can get a picture of the former castle through panels and objects and of course a sensational view over the Danube valley in Upper Swabia. Further relics from the Middle Ages can be found on the walls of the surrounding private buildings.
