"The town hall of the Hanseatic city is located on the north side of the Wismar market square. It was built in 1819 according to plans by the Ludwigslust court architect Georg Barca partially collapsed.
Today the town hall has been extensively restored and shines again in new splendor. The function of town hall is still exercised. A permanent exhibition "Wismar - Pictures of a City" is located in the town hall cellar. "Source: wismarer.de/rathaus.hansestadt.wismar.htm

The classicist building was built according to plans by Ludwigslust court architect Johann Georg Barca from 1817 to 1819 after the original late Gothic town hall collapsed in 1807. On the east side of the town hall is the entrance to a city history exhibition in the former Ratsweinkeller. The ribbed vault dates back to the 13th century.

Erected 1817-19 according to plans by the Schwerin court architect Johann Georg Barca in a classicist style. Parts of the medieval predecessor building were included in the new building, such as the vaulted cellar and the former court arbor (today exhibition rooms). Inside, especially the entrance area, the staircase and the citizens' hall on the 1st floor were designed. 1990 Roof fire, then extensive renovation and restoration until 1992.
