Attempting any serious hiking on the Croatian islands or along the Dalmatian coast (hikes longer than three or four hours) should be done primarily with weather/climate factors in mind. Summer heat can be a killer, or at least, a serious spoiler. Needless to say, any prior medical conditions of a hiker should be taken into consideration. Sufficient protection from the sun is mandatory, carrying enough water is necessary and appropriate footwear (at least good approach shoes) can save the day. People seem to forget that even supposedly mellow Mediterranean weather can often be more than one had bargained for. On this particular hike expect to see realy big and colorful spiders, dull-gray poisonous "Poskoks", regional sort of viperids (they will scurry away as fast as possible, just don't step on them), and possibly some other wildlife. If you watch your step and can be mindful and respectful of your surroundings, you can enjoy all these without fear.
