The cemetery was built in the 19th century. During the "Möhnekatastrophe" - the tidal wave after the bombing of Möhnetalsperre 1943 - the area was flooded and destroyed the cemetery. Only 11 graves were preserved or could be restored. Later, another 5 tombstones were discovered during the renaturation of the Ruhr and set up again.

The small cemetery is located directly on the bike path. The Möhne also goes to the Ruhr there. Nice places to sit, skate ramps are also available.
