Station 18b: Large stone grave in the Klöbertannen

Like the tip of an iceberg protrude from the 14-bay grave on the south side 14, or on the north side 15 bearing stones from the ground, ten cap stones are still present. It is interesting that two of the bearing stones were probably a little too short and were "helped" with the support of a boulder about the size of a head. A phenomenon that can also be observed at the Poldenhünensteinen (station 20b) and the stone grave in Werlte (station 20a). The oval stone wreath that also surrounds this grave can still be seen quite clearly on the south side, even if many of the stones are no longer in their original location. From the entrance on the southern longitudinal wall, there are three bearing stones and the mighty capstone of approx. 2.2 mx 1.6 m.

The Hümmling is known for the Magalith culture with its large stone graves. Huge, uncut stones that came here during the last ice age were systematically arranged and shaped one on top of the other in pehistoric times for cultic purposes or for the construction of graves with difficult to achieve technical sophistication. The places of worship known in past centuries as chicken graves - it was assumed in past centuries that giants would have laid graves here - are mostly very well preserved to this day.
The formation to be found here is marked as Werpeloh "II" and dates from between 3,500 and 2,800 BC.
