    The Lönsturm was built in 1928 as a viewing platform on the Thüster Berg.

    A tower in honor of Hermann Löns
    This tower stands at about the highest point of the Kanstein, which is the highest elevation of the Thüster Berg.

    Once climbed, it offers a view as far as the Brocken in the Harz Mountains and the Hermann Monument in the Teutoburg Forest on a clear day.

    At the time it was surrounded by young beech trees, but over the years they grew beyond the top of the tower, so that it has now had to be raised twice to meet its purpose. In 1972 it was raised for the first time to a height of 22 m for the 950th anniversary of Salzhemmendorf, and in 1997 it was raised by a further 4 m to its current height of 26 m.

      For me the tower with the most beautiful view in the Hildesheim region. The view is worth all the effort.

        Very nice tower with an amazing view. It is best to approach from Marienhagen or Levedagsen. From Thüsten the ascent is very steep and long and only recommended for fit bikers.
