There was once a clearing in the thorn bushes where three farmsteads were built. It is assumed that these were the castle, the Biemerhof and the Junkershof. They were mentioned in a document as early as 898.

There is a reliable document from 1478 about the castle. In the second half of the 17th century, the castle was significantly changed and the manor house was rebuilt around 1840.

Today's moated castle replaced a medieval castle complex in the 17th century. The main and outer baileys are in very good condition and well worth seeing.
