Nice windmill in Haage. The place itself didn't appeal to us like that. Lots of traffic and pretty loud when you come from the coast and you are used to the silence. 😉

The Hager Mill, built between 1873 and 1880, is a gallery-style Dutch windmill. At 30.20 meters high, it is the tallest mill in East Frisia and all of Germany. Its predecessors were the wooden post mill, built around 1597 and demolished in 1852, and the pillar mill from 1852 and 1853, which was destroyed by fire in 1872. The Hager Windmill was originally built in 1873 by Claas Hinrich Bruns and partially destroyed by lightning in 1880, but was subsequently rebuilt and given an additional story. A granary and the wheat mill were added in 1931 and 1932. Wheat processing had to be discontinued in the 1960s due to unprofitability. In 1965, Schelten-Peterssche Vermögensverwaltung took over the Hager windmill, including its outbuildings, and renovated it starting in 1995. After extensive restoration, the windmill received a new cap on August 15, 1997, and the cross-blade assembly began rotating again. The blades have since been removed, and the cap no longer automatically rotates into the wind.
