The residential tower was built in the 13th century and got its name from the family of the Rudenz, which came from the Bernese Oberland (Meiringen), where the knight Henry I was first occupied in 1252. In the meantime, the ruin is still preserved to the ground. The adjoining garden with barbecue area but invites you to linger and the views of the valley and the mountains sweeten the whole thing.
The remains of Rudenz Castle can be found on a mountain spur above the village of Giswil. The medieval fortifications were built in the 13th century. The bench against the massive stone wall is a great place to take a break. From the ruins you can enjoy a great view.
