The crane was named "Packhof" after the nearby warehouse, which was demolished in 1974. This building was erected in 1798 as the "Löwensteiner Hof" and was later converted into the $ Packhof $ in front of the Vaitstor before it became a warehouse. (Information board at the Packhof-Krahn)

The Packhof crane was built in 1896 by Wertheimer Maschinenfabrik Gebr. Unger. He has a carrying capacity of 5 tons and a discharge of 6 meters. In former times, the main ships were loaded and unloaded here.

The so-called Packhof crane
Built in 1896 based on a design by the Gebrüder Unger / Wertheim machine factory, it had a lifting capacity of 5,000 kg and a reach of 6.0 meters. It was used for loading and unloading the ships on the Main River that once docked here.

Nearby was the agricultural warehouse (built in 1953; demolished in 1974), which originated from the building erected in 1798 as the first "Löwensteiner Hof" and later rebuilt as the "Packhof" in front of the Vaitstor gate. For a time, the property was owned by the Baden Main Tax Office. In the 1970s, the "Raiffeisen-Lagerhaus eG Wertheim" built new storage and silo facilities in the new Main harbor in Bestenheid.
