Vajnež is located in Western Karavanke. It rises a thousand feet above the late ancient settlement of Ajdna. The folk tale says that buckwheat was buried in gold and silver baptisms at the place where the Sava and the Drava are seen from the same place. This is at the top of Vajnež between Stol and Belščica. Many have sought in vain for buried silver and gold. In the brilliantly sunny, hot August days, those who know how to look with heart and soul will be able to find the golden flowers and silver leaves of our Carniolan Grint above the graves.
