Linnep Castle - a moated castle - is located in Ratingen, in the district of Breitscheid, surrounded by woods and meadows. The beautiful location invites to long walks. Already in the 11th century, the former knight's seat is mentioned in a document of the Abbey Kaiserswerth. Parts of the building date back to the 12th century. 1769 then the largest part of the moated castle was rebuilt. Only the tower, whose age is estimated at over 1000 years, and some other components have been incorporated into the new facility. Around 1855 further extensions were made in the area of the outer bailey.
