The sculptor Mathias Gasteiger (1871-1934) is one of the well-known Munich artists around 1900. He was married to Anna Sophie Gasteiger (1877-1954), who made a name for herself above all as a flower painter.
The artist's residence, built on the shores of Lake Ammersee from 1902 to 1913, with a residential building and surrounding farmhouse garden and farm buildings, is a unique ensemble of Munich Art Nouveau.
The museum includes the Art Nouveau decor of the rooms, historical photographs, a selection of sculptures by Mathias Gasteiger and a collection of paintings by Anna Sophie Gasteiger.

In Holzhausen am Ammersee. Created from the inheritance of Irene Faber-Gasteiger, 1984. She was the daughter of the artist couple Mathias and Anna Sophie Gasteiger. The villa was built between 1908 - 1913. In 1994 a museum with a landscape park opened. The community / registry office in Utting offers the opportunity to get married in the farmer's room.
