Easy and scenic route that the world envies us, with ancient Roman villas (Massenzio, Quintilii, etc.) and monumental tombs such as Cecilia Metella. Too bad for some unfortunate person who doesn't want to go to the eco-island and throw away the washing machine. Up to via di Fioranello the route has sections of pavé that can be traveled by mountain bike with small paved sections that can be avoided by taking the lateral dirt sections. From via di Fioranello onwards the pavé practically disappears and it becomes entirely dirt.

The Via Appia is one of the rockiest flat stretches that I know. It's incredibly fun to ride here and race along the small side trails. Falling chains, jumping gears and an eerie clatter add to the amusement.
