These asphalt bike paths were created especially for the forest settlement during the GDR era, so that the government of the GDR could comfortably cycle from there to the government baths at Liepnitzsee. GDR head of state Walter Ulbricht had his private bathing area built in the 1960s. He had three reed-roofed houses set in the Brandenburg sand to bring some Baltic idyll to Lake Brandenburg. One of these houses is still well preserved today. Later other GDR giants were drawn to the banks of the Liepnitzsee. Both Willi Stoph (from 1973 to 1976 Chairman of the Council of State and thus head of state of the GDR and later Prime Minister) and Egon Krenz (last Chairman of the Council of State of the GDR) liked to swim here.
Today it is called Waldbad Liepnitzsee and is open in summer from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There is not much to see from the asphalt in autumn, better take the Crosser or the Gravelbike nowadays.
