In front of today's church there was a chapel in Seefelderaussendeich, where occasionally a service was held by the Schweier Pastor. There was also a graveyard. Count Anton I of Aldenburg, the heir Count Anton Günther, had a church built in 1675 for the newly formed community Seefeld. It was built on the dike built from 1584 to 1590. The community was officially called "Neuenkirchen", but the name did not prevail (Wikipedia).

The Seefeld church, decorated in the North German Baroque style, was built in 1675 on the former foot of the dike. The altarpiece from the workshop of Master Engel zu Burg in Delmenhorst was installed in 1691. The pulpit and baptismal font followed in 1695 and 1702 respectively.

The building is a rectangular brick structure, closed on the east side by five sides of a dodecagon. The wall is made of bricks in monastery format, and the corners are made of hewn sandstone.
