Belluno manages to combine the dynamics of a city with the charm of a mountain town. The city is framed by the Dolomites to the north and the Venetian pre-Alps to the south and its center extends into a bend in the Piave river. The name, derived from the Celtic, means "bright city" and is an excellent description for Belluno, splendid in the light of every season. There are numerous places of interest to visit especially in the pedestrian center such as the Belluno Cathedral with its baroque bell tower or the more recent Ponte della Vittoria. To immerse yourself in city life, nothing better than a walk in Piazza dei Martiri, the true social hub of Belluno.
