    The Kollegiengebäude I (also known as the Government Building I or State Chancellery) is a prestigious, listed building in Schwerin's old town. The building is located at Schlossstraße 2–4 and borders the Old Garden. It is now the seat of the State Chancellery of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

        On the site of a former Franciscan monastery, today's State Chancellery was built between 1825 and 1834 according to the plans of the Oberland master builder Carl Heinrich Wünsch. The State Chancellery is the official seat of the Prime Minister and the headquarters of the state government, from which official business is conducted.

                In 1865, a fire destroyed the college building down to its foundations. It was decided to rebuild it immediately. The building was used again from 1867.

                In 1892 - 93, Government Building II, designed by Georg Daniel, was built next to the college building. The two buildings were connected by an archway.

                Since 1990, it has been the State Chancellery and the place of work of the Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
